The Independent)

Remember I told you how America hosting the World Cup would be a shit show? It’s an absolute shit show. Hydration breaks are just so they can show more ads, money being the one true American god 😞

Am I seeing this right? World Cup games pausing for ‘hydration breaks?’ This absolutely reeks of “commercial breaks!” I lived in the States and every single sporting event was awash with ads. The game has gone, literally 4 quarters! Stick it up yer arse! 🤣🖕👊

Hydration Breaks are so you can go to the fridge and not have to switch to the phone. Note also they are 3 minutes long, which is the average amount of time it takes an American to go to the fridge and make a “snack” which would feed 39 of the 48 participating nations.

I’m an American, I (used to) love World Cup and for the past 15 years I’ve been looking forward to it coming to my city. But it’s turned into such a money grab on so many levels I’m totally disinterested. And I thought I was the only one thinking “hydration breaks” were bizarre.

Klopp is right on this one. I figured the commercials are too much. The water breaks disrupt the match flow. Just like when Morocco scored Brazil, they went for water break. In that scenario, Brazil would like to come back ASAP or Morocco would like to use the momentum to score another goal. Brazil were somehow fortunate to still have the drive to keep going as they equalized. Whatever the water break is for, I think it stops the momentum of the game.
